Via de la Plata Camino tours - JWT Camino

Via de la Plata Camino

The Via de la Plata Camino in Spain is one of the longest, crossing the Iberian Peninsula from South to North, from the stunning city of Seville, in Andalucia. The trail follows ancient Roman roads used by pilgrims since medieval times on their way to honour Saint James in Santiago de Compostela.

If you are looking to walk the full route from Seville, this is an epic trail and true Camino de Santiago adventure that will make you feel as if you are stepping back in time, following in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims. It is also a Camino route of impressive history and Roman heritage, and you will have the chance to admire ancient monuments such as the Roman amphitheatre in Merida and UNESCO-listed Salamanca.

Once the route enters Galicia, on the Camino Sanabres, the landscapes become greener and lush forests replace vast open plains. For a taste of the Via de la Plata Camino route, we highly recommend walking the last 100kms from the beautiful city of Ourense, Galicia’s spa capital, famous for its thermal waters. This is one of the most beautiful paths into Santiago de Compostela for its peaceful country tracks across rural Galicia.

You will only need to walk the last 100kms from Ourense into Santiago de Compostela to receive your Compostela pilgrim certificate. Talk to our travel experts and they will design the perfect itinerary for you.

VIA DE LA PLATA TOURS

At JWT we currently have self guided tours available on the Via de la Plata from Ourense, which can be completed in a week.

If you would like to start your Camino de Santiago journey from further afield on the Via de la Plata, our team will create a tailor-made itinerary, perfect for you.

Pilgrims looking to complete the full Via de la Plata Camino route from Seville for instance have an epic journey of 1000kms ahead, which can be challenging for its high temperatures (not recommended in the Summer months) and remoteness in some of its stages, particularly in the Extremadura region.
