Self Guided Camino Tours

Our self guided Camino tours give you all the flexibility you need to experience the Camino de Santiago your own way, choosing when and where you would like to start your Camino journey.

When people talk about ‘the Camino walk’ they generally refer to the Camino Frances trail although there are many more Camino de Santiago routes, across Spain, Portugal, France and beyond.

You can start your Camino de Santiago journey from any of the cities or towns along the various trails, and walk as much or as little as you wish. Just bear in mind walkers should complete at least the last 100kms into Santiago de Compostela in order to request the ‘Compostela’ pilgrim certificate at the Pilgrims Office; a beautiful memento of this special experience.

At JWT we have a selection of both guided and self guided Camino tours so you can choose how you’d like to experience this wonderful journey: on your own, with friends or family, or joining a group of future friends as part of our fully escorted guided tours.

Which Camino route?

Did you know there are many different Camino de Santiago routes across Spain, Portugal, France and beyond? They all have their unique history, landscapes and traditions.

With thousands of kms of Camino trails, you can choose to walk for just a few days, a couple of weeks or even months.

If this is your first time on the Camino de Santiago we suggest some of the most popular trails, such as the Camino Frances, Camino Portugues or Coastal Camino Portugues.

The Camino to Finisterre and Muxia is another beautiful historic trail, believed to be even older than the pilgrimage to Santiago.

If you are looking for a shorter option, the Camino Ingles is ideal as tit is the shortest Camino route; and those in search of an off the beaten track experience, the Camino Primitivo or Via de la Plata are perfect.

If you need advice on which Camino route is the best one for you and your group, our travel experts can help. Get in touch to start planning a memorable journey.
